The Howgill Hammer is a fabulous new sportive that has something for all cyclists.

The Howgill Hammer is taking place on the 18th April 2010.

Have Fun on the Hammer!Starting at the sleepy village of Silverdale on Morecambe Bay, with the Lake District in the back ground, you head out on quiet country lanes skirting the Cumbrian Mountains on the left and the Yorkshire Dales on the right.

Warming the legs up on the ‘awesome’ climb at Killington, you aim for the magnificent view of the ‘Howgills’ on undulating picturesque moorland lanes.

The route circles around the Howgills from Cumbria to Yorkshire and back with some demanding climbs and fast descents through beautiful countryside.

From Sedburgh down the amazing Dent valley you take a challenging climb and a rollercoaster descent to Barbon, more wonderful lanes and a couple more ascents and your at the finish.

The event comprises of a 86 mile demanding loop and a shorter 50 miles with feed stations at half way. Full GPS profiles, maps and downloads are available for both the 50 mile and 80 mile courses.

Local riders have enjoyed these stunning rides for years, a classic sportive and a must for the calendar during 2010.
